*1 Month Old*

Well Jack is One Month old today!! He's a beast in these pictures!! In person though he still is kind of a peanut!
Yes he is a little cross eyed in this picture...its not all the time just when I want to take a picture he goes crossed! I think its his way of telling me he's done with the picture taking!

Don't you just want to pinch those cheeks!!

He probably farted here...he's just like his Daddy!

Jack is getting so strong. He holds his head up really well...still wobbly but he's getting there! And already so awake compared to the first few weeks! He has been smiling although I don't think he knows what he's smiling about and he has even laughed in his sleep!! Its pretty funny!

Mike's First Father's Day

Mike with Lola and JackMan
For Father's Day Chrissi and Dan were able to bring Daniel home and we were all able to spend Father's Day together...a low key Father's Day!

Here Big D trying to give us a little smile!

I think the best part of the day was getting these two cuties together! They have no idea yet but they are going to be best buds! Big D is such a little peanut a little over 8 pounds and JackMan seems like a monster at 10 pounds!! They grow soo fast.

Grandma Mimi's Pool

Saturday before Father's Day we went to Mimi's pool for a family get together. The weather was perfect so I couldn't help but have this be Jack's first venture into the pool. Jack finally meet his Great Grandma Shirley and Great Aunt Marikae and cousins Lisa and Lori for the first time after many failed attempts!! The girls had to get Jack dressed into his swim trunks! Its so nice when I go to Mimi's the girls do all the diaper changes...they ask for help with #2...and they love to feed him.

Mommy and JackMan

Thanks to Grandma Mimi the pool was like bath water so Jack didn't mind the water one bit! The only thing he wasn't a fan of was the bright sun in his face.

Here we are just floating around. I can't wait until Jack can actually be in the water for longer periods of time. He was only in the water for about 15 minutes. I'm just to paranoid that he will be that baby that gets a sunburn! How awful that would be!!

Cousins Lisa (above)and Lori(below)

I felt like I was on vacation, it was great someone was always feeding or changing Jack!

A Proud New Uncle

4 Week Doctor Appt

Well Jack had his one month check up today. This is Nurse Nadene listening to his Jack's heart...which checked out great both nurse and doctor did not detect any irregularity anymore which is great!
This is right before Jack was weighed...he is already 10 pounds 2 ounces!!! I can't believe he is already packing on the LBS!!

Nadene just measured his head...a little squirmy...but he never fussed or cried the whole time we were at the office and we were there for an hour and a half! That's what happens when you work there..everyone has to hold him and I get to show him off! I think he was showing off for my co-workers!!

And lastly a picture with his hot nurse Nadene...he was flirtin'
Not looking forward to check up Month 2...he has to get 5 shots!:(

New Arrival!!

Jack's new cousin has FINALLY arrived after being almost a week overdue!!
Daniel Jackson Ryba arrived on June 17 at 4:07 weighing in at 8 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long!! Apparently little Daniel has a major conehead but he looks absoutely PERFECT!!
I just know that these two boys are gonna get into some trouble together with their names together being Jack Daniel!!
Mom and Baby are doing well and I can't wait to meet him...more pictures to come of little Daniel!!

Cousins

Jack can't seem to get enough of his cousins, Isabella and Lauren. Or is it the other way around? Bella and Lauren are so great with Jack, they tag teamed a diaper change together and didn't even get peed on!! Nice Job ladies!
We all can't wait for Labor Day weekend when their other cousin Maceo comes out to play!! One baby for each girl!

Bath Time

Jack's first sponge bath at home. Boys are soo much trickier than girls, he pees all over the place!

After bathtime lights out...Dad too he must have it soo rough!:)

Jack looks like such a little man here!

Lola No Longer the Queen

Lola has had her better days. She is still adjusting to the new life with Jack, as we all are, but she is hanging in there. Lola stayed with Yia Yia and Poppy during our hospital stay. Little did she know her world was about to get rocked! Yia Yia brought Lola home to us and boy she was not a happy camper. We had Jack in the carseat and I'm not sure if she was just spooked by the carseat or this little animal making crazy noises that was laying in the carseat. I think a little bit of both. Lola growled so we had to put her in her place let her sniff him out and day by day Lola has adjusted much better than I thought, Mike thought she would be fine. He was right.
Eventhough Lola is "just a dog" she at times does seem depressed, left out maybe. We are doing our best to lift her spirits by taking her to each of the grandparents houses to let her run and play with her other buddies.

Everyday that goes by she amazes me. I think in the long run Lola and Jack will be best buds and Lola the protector.

Lounging Around

This is Jack's typical day just lounging around on his newborn lounger when he's not fussing to lay on Mom's chest! This is a difficult shot to get with his eyes open!

What a rough life!!

Home Sweet Home

Our first family picture, we are all smiles now because we finally get to go home!!!
This is us finally home and Jack in his favorite position!!

Here's Jack in his carseat all ready to go home, he looks soo big!

Doing Time in the NICU

The night before our discharge Mike and I thought it would be a good idea to have Jack spend the night in the nursery so we could have one last night of sleep. Well that next morning one of the nurses informed us that when she was doing her assessment on Jack she detected an irregular heart beat and had 3 other nurses confirm the irregularity. They also noted that his oxygen level dropped when he was feeding but not terribly. So that morning when Jack's pediatrician came in he listened to his heart but did not hear any irregularity so he spoke to the neonatologist and he wanted Jack to come to the NICU for further testing. Next thing we knew Jack was in the NICU getting hooked up to an ekg and having his blood taken. The doctor came to talk to us about the ekg and that it did pick up an extra heartbeat so he wanted to have an echocardiogram done in the morning...THE MORNING...we are suppose to go home TODAY!!! At that moment I lost it and the water works started pouring out of me! The only thing I could think about was I can't go home without him, there is noooo way!! Lucky the mother/baby unit was not busy at all and the nurses were soo awesome and let Mike and I stay in our room while Jack did his time in the NICU.The other issue that Jack was having was he was jaundice. Jack's nurse Tina who was sooo great and brutely honest said that if the heart all checks out okay the jaundice is what may keep him here for a few days. DAYS!!!!?? It was such a shock to here all this within 2 hours of us being discharged to Jack having to stay a few more days! Below is Jack hanging with Dad and his biliblanket (help with jaundice) this was nice so we could at least hold him. When we weren't holding him he had to lay in this bili bed and wear these tight goggles to protect his eyes...which he hated.

So Jack had the echocardiogram the next morning (which was really cool)and the results were good, the structure of his heart was fine but the neonatologist consulted with a cardiologist who recommended that he have a holter monitor which just monitors the rhythm of the heart for 24 hours. But that wasn't going to be put on him until the next day! So another day, this is day 3 in the NICU. So below is a picture of Jack hooked up to the holter monitor and the regular NICU monitor. Not fun to change a diaper thats for sure! So when the holter monitor finally came off it was a waiting game for the actual results. By day 4 the neonatologist finally informed us that the preliminary results of the holter monitor were good nothing of concern and his bilirubin levels should go down in the days to come and to have the level checked in two days and to follow up with the pediatrician. And the great news...you can finally take Jack HOME!!!

So when we followed up with the pediatrician, Dr.Talwar went over everything with us. Basically what was causing the irregular heartbeat was the Ductus Arteriosus had not closed yet which usually closes within a few days after birth. And his bilirubin level when from 14 on the day of discharge to 12 so that was great!! So Jack had quite a bit to deal with in his first several days of life but took it like a champ!!
